‘Etihad can confirm that flight EY141 carrying 254 passengers and 18 crew from Abu Dhabi to Toronto was diverted to Manchester, UK, early this morning due to a medical emergency. As one of the passengers became ill en route and needed immediate medical attention, the aircraft was diverted and landed at Manchester airport at GMT 06.40.’

Do you have even the vaguest plans of growing out of this ‘arrogant, slightly insulting forum child’ rolé you seem to have engineered for yourself on the forum recently? If you have, perhaps doing so sooner rather than later would be beneficial to everyone. It’s getting somewhat tedious now.

Just to answer the earlier question, MAN can handle the A380, stand 80 is capable of holding it. Work is taking place on pier B to accomodate more flights.
MAN is the main UK diversion point due to handling capabilities and proximity to good health care
LGW is the other diversion airport, capable of handling 1 A380 for emergencies only (such as when LHR closed after the BA B777 crash landing)

It was a legitimate question… I was just wonder – surely making your text bold is harder work…

Does making childish comments make you feel clever? 😉
As much as I’m a fan of the Etihad A330’s, there’s something truely spectacular about that livery on an A340. Shooting that beauty would have made my day!

Does anyone know which if any U.K. airports apart from Heathrow feature in Emirates A380 emergency plans ?
Thanks for your time and trouble.
Be lucky
David
I recall a quote from a GLA management type when asked if an A380 could be accomodated and he said somewhat tongue in cheek “Well we could certainly get one down..” 😉 I imagine it would have to leave again minus most of it’s non essential equipment ! :diablo:

I may be wrong , but I think the only other place tn the UK that Emirates, will us has a diversion is Manchester.
We nearly had one before Christmas due to Fog at Heathrow.
Manchester at the mo can take only 1 at a time, sure this will change in the future.
I believe that LGW can handle the Airbus A380, but only in emergency cases as it has to be parked on a remote stand because none of the departure gates have been re-configured to handle the aircraft yet…one came in due to the fog at Heathrow a while back if I remember rightly!

Air Jamaica, Air Mauritius, and BWIA definately operated. I think the Cathays were a rumour, they were listed in the timetable, but never started. Virgin are starting in 2009, and I think Etihad are using 340s as well in 2009.
