Quite substantial!..
EasyJet firms 52 more A319s, takes options on 75 more
Graham Dunn, London (14Nov06, 08:42 GMT, 162 words)UK budget carrier EasyJet has exercised options on 52 more Airbus A319 aircraft and taken options on a further 75 A320 family aircraft.
EasyJet initially ordered 120 A319s in December 2002, placing options on another 120 aircraft at the same time.
It firmed 20 of these options in December last year and today says it has exercised options on another 52 A319s, subject to shareholder approval. These aircraft are for delivery between 2008 and 2010. EasyJet’s A319 aircraft are powered by CFM International CFM56 engines.
EasyJet CEO Andy Harrison says: “This major new aircraft order underpins our continuing rapid growth, which has been driven by our winning combination of low fares with care convenience.”
It means 192 of the 240 aircraft covered by EasyJet’s original agreement with Airbus have been converted into firm orders, 88 of which have already been delivered.
EasyJet has also taken on options on 75 more A320 aircraft, taking its total options on A320 family aircraft to 123.

On the subject of airbus orders, air asia from malaysia want aonother 60 A320’s on top of the 100 they’ve got already on order.Another plus for Airbus is that EL AL have cancelled their order for 10 787’s.
Thats incorrect.
El Al have concelled their reserved production slots for the 787.
And I do not see how that is good news for Airbus as El Al cite the reasons as being financial, as in they have no money for an order. So, this does not mean El Al are having a change of heart and heading over to tolouse.

And why are Ryanair the most profitable?
£7 to put your bag in the hold
£5 if you want to one of the first on the plane
Ridiculously priced food & drink on board
Hard sell duty free
SCRATCHCARDS???
Just as an example
BA GLA-LHR
£36 single fare if booked in advance
Hold baggage included
Allocated seating
Food/Drink included on board
£3 single tube fare to central London
Total £39
FR PIK-STN
Flight 1p taxes £9.99 – total £10
Bag £7
Priority ‘beat the scrum’ boarding £5
Cup of tea £1.50
Stan-ex to central London (ran by ONE britains most unreliable train operating company) £15
Total £38.50
Some people will slate me for saying it but is the 50p – yes 50p saving really worth travelling cattle class with FR?

That would be 2nd major A320 family order for AB Asia after the 150 chinese !! Good job if AB pull it off !!
Another plus for Airbus is that EL AL have cancelled their order for 10 787’s.
That is complete BS. EL never ordered a single 787 from boeing . What EL did was reserve Slots incase they have the funds to order the jet and with the time winding down they have not exercised their option . Reserving slots is a no-gain no-loss situation for everyone , you make a deposit and if you dont take it then you get your money back whereas IF YOU ORDER AND CANCEL THEN THEIR ARE PENALTIES INVOLVED . Another thing about the EL news is that they have not exercized those options because of Company’s economic concerns as they dont think they can afford new jets at this point of time ! Watch those Slots dissapear in no time as the 787 is in high demand pre 2013 just like the Aeroflot slots (22 787’s) are being contested by Singapore and/or BA according to Aeroflot CEO now that The deadline has expired.

Great news for the A320/19 and EZY !!
And how Ryanair which offer even cheaper fares can be the most profitable Carrier around !!
probably because:
Low fixed cost base
Minimal staff in head office, not swamped with Senior VP’s etc
99% of bookings taken via the internet, so no big expensive call centers
Minimal staff or agents on ground, no need for offices abroad.
watertight contracts with suppliers guarenteeing fixed costs over a certain specified time.
Those extra charges on tickets, soon add up (Ryanairs “wheelchair” tax added another £100million to the profit margins)
Everything onboard not nailed down or vital to aircraft is sold at premium prices.
Higher aircraft utilisation, on average Easyjet planes spend 18hrs in the air, compared to 10-12 hours on legacy carriers, in the air more=more ££££
Just the basics on how they can offer low fares.
