F-22/Typhoon/perhaps Rafale/Gripen follow-on…

With the cold war (temporarily?) over, it’s clear that the numbers of high end weapons will be limited by need and budget concerns.

The billions spent to develop a production run of a couple of hundred aircraft (say the F-22) probably can’t/won’t be repeated.

Any thoughts on greater international cooperation among the major Western powers?

Perhaps a shared basic airframe with different engine options and tailored avionics? And to keep the politicians and unions happy, multiple assemby lines.
