F-35 Hudless?

Read somewhere that the F-35 will lack a Head Up Display or HUD. The data will be displayed to the pilot via a screen built into the helmet visor. Is this true?

A pretty radical idea, though I have seen it mentioned elswhere not related to the F-35.
