The Turkish military stated on Monday that two pilots had died in a plane crash near the Aegean city of Manisa.

“A Turkish Air Forces F-4 Phantom crashed near the city of Manisa during an exercise. The plane took off from Eskisehir as part of daily training exercises.

Manisa Mayor Orhan Isin told Anatolia news agency that parts of the plane were scattered over a large area outside of the city.

It was claimed that the plane was one of those renewed as a part of the F-4 Phantom war plane modernization agreement between the Turkish Armed Forces and Israel.

The military said that an investigation into the crash is underway. “

The accident comes after a series of incedents involving turkish F-4 during 2003.
