What apeals to you about this Aircraft..

I have always read about this plane as one of the reasons Manouverable aircraft came back into fashion. The only good thing they did was make the world see that dog fighters were still needed. How much of this is true?

Did it get bad reputation in vietnam as a “dogfighter” because of the policy makers?
