In the other post on IAF/PAF, some mention was made of how bad and primitive PAF F-7s are. Well, they are certainly not F-22s but how many people here realize all the improvements they have gone through:
1. Grifo radar which is far superior to MiG-23 High Lark/APG-66 of the early F-16A and virtually the equal of the MiG-29s Slot Back radar
2. Ability to carry AIM-7M Sparrow missiles as well as Super 530D- which means in the BVR arena it is easily the equal of the Mirage 2000 or the MiG-29
3. Soon, the ability to carry the Israeli Derby missile- which is the equal of AMRAAM, at whihc point he BVR advantage becomes absolutely decisive
4. In close combat training with Gulf air forces, PAF F-7s have consistently beaten all comers except the F-16 in dogfights.
5. In real combat, during Kargil, one at least one instance, a PAF F-7 outturned and engaged an IAF MiG-29- forcing it to flee.
Net, I would contend that the PAF F-7 is fully the equal of an IAF Mirage 2000 or MiG-29 in actual combat capability. Please comment- no political/racist crap please- just a fact based opinion.
