Renault were testing a car up and down Duxfords runway yesterday.I have to say i thought after 20 minutes the sound of the car was rather irritating especially compared to a beautiful sounding Merlin engine.
I will be interested to see if many complaints were made to the IWM,i know when i went into the entrance somebody was complaining to the desk about the noise.
Anyway a few piccies.
I do have to say i was impressed with the acceleration and especially the deceleration of the car, although i don’t know if it was being tested to 100% never having seen one in the flesh before .

😀 Spitfire still wins on looks, speed and sound 😀

Noise Alert Leaflet.
It now turns out that this is BOGUS.! Whoever printed and distributed it is nothing to do with any councils, whether local or county, and the leaflet is in fact illegal propaganda.!
By the way testing is in progress today, and because of the lack of wind sounds no worse that a motorbike on the M11.!

Noise Alert leaflet.
Yes thats right. Interesting to note that the leaflet says “if your affected by the noise let your officials know”.. but does’nt mention “if you don’t have a problem with the noise let your officials know”.! Tossers..

F1 at Duxford
The village has been leafleted to stir up protest against the F1 testing but all the subsequent messages to the PC have been in favour.

I’m surprised Bentwaters hasnt been considered for the F1 testing, that said, it is a tad out of the way in the corner of Suffolk.
The benefits to Duxford though are obvious…….but my worry is the ‘NIMBY brigade’, it could add fuel to their argument.

Hi Blue Robin,
Any idea what time… might make a suitable day out so as to combine my interest in old aeroplanes with my son’s interest in F1.
Cheers

Why are they no longer at Kemble? hopefully nothing to do with Kemble’s problems with the local residents.

it’s these sorts of whingers (whom when not writing into bbc “points of view”, or writing to their local mp about the price of fish), that help to ensure the fun police get to wag their pace sticks, at anything even remotely more interesting than Beige wallpaper.

Wonder if it is a lady with chickens?

Dear oh dear.. i was in there yesterday with my son, along with several other people from neighbouring villages who were also enjoying the spectacle. Whilst i suspect the majority of local people do not have a problem with the event, it is always the minority that are listened to the most.!:(

I think it is brilliant! So there! I have taken my daughters to see F1 testing at Silverstone when they were 3 and 5 years old and had their own race car suits (not allowed sadly anymore)….they were so impressed by the engine sound….so hats off great to see…there are probably 361 days of the year when you dont have to suffer F1 engines…I just wish I could time a visit with F1 there…
It is great to see that Duxford can make some extra money too….now spend it on restoring some great British aircraft

Give air traffic a quick call on 01223-833376. They should have the latest timetable.
