Saw this aviation magazine that got this F14D vs. F/A-18E article. It seems quite one sided, and a lobby piece to sell the F14D over the F/A-18E, which was soundly trounced all over the article. One quip has an F18 pilot voicing his dissatisfaction that when matched against the older F/A-18 As, the Es were an embarrassment: “outturned them, outran them, and even ran them out of gas”. In other words, the older As were faster, climbed better, turned fater and got better range.
Is the Super Hornet that bad? Or is it that some people got some grudge against it? Is there some evidence to justify this position, or are we seeing sour grapes?
