Would anyone join if we set up a group on Facebook? It has to be better than ebay…

I joined the aerojumble group and had a good look at what’s on offer – it’s not really what I had in mind. A few aircraft parts but lots of modern junk – calenders, prints, bottle openers, key racks etc. As mentioned it seems pretty UK oriented too which doesn’t help a lot of forum users from overseas.
A dedicated part on the forum would be best – I and many others would be happy to subscribe/ pay for classified ads but there doesn’t seem to be much interest from Key. It seems a real shame as it would be a very good way of monetising the forum.
In the meantime i’ll check out the antique aircraft parts exchange group – looks pretty good

Hey Elliot, give it a try, it might work, I’d be interested (not that I’ve got much to trade)

There’s another one – fairly UK centric called Aerojumble – Aviation & Military History Buy/Sell/Swap.

I am in! I have some spares etc that might be of use to someone.

Yep there are certainly a few out there but some people are not comfortable with FB (with good reason, having just been trolled spectacularly by someone who has been on this forum but posing as someone else) hence the rationale about setting our site up. Small steps, and it’s actually fun to see what people put up (though my bank account may take a belting which is no surprise given I’m working on a cockpit – hint, any Anson bits anyone 😀

Such a group already exists and has 2.500+ members. Lots of great stuff there. It is called: Antique Aircraft Parts Exchange

So, in a few years time the current forum as we know it doesn’t exist any more?

Definitely yes, go for it!

I gave up on evilbay with the fees etc and set up my own dedicated auction site with another guy. Not perfect but ideal for our needs 🙂

Not knocking the idea but what is the objection to eBay?
Is it the fees for sellers; at 10% plus PayPal fee they aren’t that bad given what you get for them? And you do get quite a lot for that: protection (for buyers), an existing infrastructure with a complete toolkit, truly global marketing and no fees if you don’t sell (so totally free for a wild ‘punt’)!

Good idea. Although I don’t really use Facebook I’d certainly join this group.

Any new resource, and potential new source of spares for projects, has to be a good thing.
