What a shame, though inevitable. 🙁 Yes, I use Facebook. It is good for staying in touch with family, but it’s not the centre of my life.

Another thing that I find annoying, but is more a regional is the adding of “-k” to the end of words…but I can bite my tongue with that one. 😀

I could add a few more to “innit”. What is happening to our speech?? Regional dialects are fine and good, but downgrading “received English” to an argot mixture of American/Australian/Essex sloppy speech is dreadful. I blame Tony Blair!:(

I agree about “innit” “Absolutely”!!!!!!!

All the major US warbird collections, collectors, owners & museums have FB pages, as do several of the industry photogs. Often see stuff there before here or WIX etc

I’d have to fight the urge to slap him…

Just for the record, I hate that colloquialism “innit” with a passion. 😮
Better tell my Doctor that who has just purchased the practice from my old, now retired Dr, every damned sentance is ended with the word “Innit”. I have even TOLD him, that it’s only the young kids in this Country to say it, and not a professional person such as he.

I find both platforms highly useful. Facebook for purely keeping in touch with friends and family alike, as I change my geographical location often.
Twitter is great for following news outlets, companies etc. specially for a journalist. Statistically today, Twitter is where most news is broken first. Much faster than TV channels or any other news outlets.

B’cos they got fb, innit? 😮
By: Sky High - 13th June 2011 at 19:41

Changed my Facebook language setting to “English (Pirate)” has made a huge comical difference to using Facebook.

Found Facebook a bit intrusive, ended up communicating with people I’d rather not. Closed my account within a year. Most of my friends never noticed:rolleyes:

BB – Picasa web albums is a good way to share pictures without the “social” pressures!:)
Threespool – in theory, yes. We subscribed, as a business, because we thought it might be a good way to spread ourselves and find new people who might have an interest in what we do.
After 3 months we packed it in. 90% of the time we were wasting time reading and searching and unless you keep in touch you spend further hours catching up on what you missed such is the volume of twitters posted. We only ended up with 300 or 400 followers and that turned out to be about 300 or 400 too many. Added to which if you don’t post for a couple of nanoseconds your followers post asking what you are doing.
A horrendous experience!:(

Can we not live our lives with a few hours of no information about anything unless we choose to find it ourselves?
Exactly what I’m always pointing out to my daughter. She and her friends can’t manage a single day without Facebook.
To my mind, these social networking sites make the most trivial things seem important, and foster the notion that we need to know everything about everybody all the time.
Having said that,I do use Facebook myself, and being a total numbskull computer-wise,it’s the only way I know of sharing my fabulous holiday snaps :diablo:

Is it not the point of Twitter that you subscribe to people, groups or businesses that you are interested in, and thus relevant to you? You don’t need to post endless drivel yourself.
By: Sky High - 13th June 2011 at 16:44
I disagree about Twitter. Twitter is even better than RSS feeds!
Surely all it does is to drive an insatiable desire for more and more unimportant and irrelevant prattle and, aptly named, twitter or twatter, to quote Kev.
