Faces from the Blue

Following the recent thread which debated the finer points of the Pilot’s Pal calendar, Page 74 of this months (July) Flypast features a great calendar for 2006 called Faces from the Blue.

The calendar is the idea of Sarah Pepper, Air Display Co-ordinator for the Historic Aircraft Collection and photographer, marketing expert Jon Johnston. It features the owners, operators and pilots of many of the Historic Aircraft flying in the UK today.. This years pin ups are Guy Black, Clive Denney, Charlie Brown, Rod Dean, Jeanne Frazer, Stuart Goldspink, Carolyn Grace, Pete Kynsey, Lee Proudfoot, John Romain, Cliff Spink, Anna Walker and Ray Hanna. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your point of view non are topless, however each model gave their time freely.

All of the profits from the sale of the Calendars will go to two charities, Flying Scholarships for the Disabled and The Mark Hanna Surgical Research Fellowship.

The first 100 calendars are signed by the featured pinups and cost Β£50.00 each on a first come first served basis, 101 to 2000 are available for a minimum donation of Β£20.00, plus Β£4.50 postage.

For further details or to place an order either email facesfromtheblue@tesco.net or drop a cheque in the post made payable to Faces from the Blue, 1 Burhill Way, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, TN38 0XP.

I seem to recall that Stephen Grey is one of the faces on a jacket company ad that regularly runs in a magazine not a million miles from here… If so, he obviously doesn’t likie to poke his head over the parapet too much as he’s been standing in the same place in the same jacket in front of the same Spitfire for what feels like about fifteen years…

Think

Not counting ‘candid’ or ‘Avaratzi’ shots, how many pictures have you seen published of Mr G?

No I snapped a copy up as soon as i saw it. I was only wondering why as it appears to be full of Duxford personallities & my own personal view is along with Ray Hanna, Stephen would rank highest.

I honestly don’t know. Maybe Messers Grey aren’t photogenic. πŸ™‚

Is it a problem, has it stopped you from purchasing a copy ?

A few shots from the calendar launch on Thursday night.

1. Robbo was chuffed to see that Faces from the Blue had made provisions for the OAP’s amongst us.
2. Ken Ellis suddenly realises that his partner for the latest series of β€œCelebrity Come Dancing” has left him.
3. The Proud Parents !!!
4. The Models
5. Just for the hell of it.

10.27am Just arrived back in civilisation, a great night despite the best efforts of Flymaybe and the M25 orbital car park. Nice to meet up with Robbo, Mark 12, Janie and Darren etc. Even managed to have a pint on Francois’s bench at the Red Lion, a precursor to Legends in a couple of weeks time. Hope to post some pictures here later on today.

For those of you who are going to Dx this evening, I look forward to seeing you there.

EN830

Are you using the new EU sponsored calendar that cuts down the number of working days in the week?. My good old Banner calendar has Thursday as the 23rd Jun.!

Brian

Sorry I wasn’t taking into account that the UK charge VAT and of course you are quite right the 23rd, but look on the brightside by replying I get to bump this back up again.

Ian,

Please introduce yourself on Thursday, as I will be at the launch. I should be easy to spot, as I will be doing photographs. (I will post a few if Jon and Sarah agree).

Me also, Sarah has asked me to bring along my Kodak Box Brownie for the event.
