Fairchild XC-120 'Pack Plane'

The latest issue of Aeroplane Monthly has a short article about the Fairchild XC-120 Pack Plane – a modified C-119 with a detachable cargo pod.

The article reminded me that I want to make a 1:72 scale model of this intriguing aircraft – using a kit of the C-119 – and I have been collecting photographs and data about for some time.

What I haven’t got though are some decent photographs, or better yet, drawings, of the complex undercarriage.

Can anyone out there help ??

Cheers

Thanks guys – but I’ve got all those photos.

What I am after are close-up details of the undercarriage – what struts connect to where, what the geometry is etc.

A good, detailed photo – or a drawing is what I need.

As for the C-82, AFAIK, no-one makes a kit – and the XC-120 was based on the C-119 anyway.

Cheers

See what you mean about the landing gear (or undercarriage)

Slightly off the topic but Swadar Plastic Comany madea neat platic toy of the XC-120 back in the 50’s…complete with removeable pod. Molded in clear plasic to show the trucks, tanks, etc. inside. You can see them occasionally on ebay.

Anybody make a C-82 kit?…It might be a better basis for the conversion, but I don’t klnow of an injection kit or a vacuform for that matter.
