Does anyone here know the precise current whereabouts of the site where the Fairey Aviation Factory was in Hayes, Middlesex?
Also very welcome would be any pictures of the factory old or new.
Thanks in advance.

Many thanks for all the replies and info above.
Does anyone have pics of the Gannets and Scouts etc leaving the factory for their road trip to White Waltham and Northolt?

That explains a few things…..such as the naming of the Airlinks Golf Course, which effectively takes up most of what was the airfield, and the M4 now goes right through the middle of the old airfield.
I can remember my late Father telling me when they were building the golf course many years ago that there had been club motorsport events on that ground back in the fifties when he had his Velocette m/c, which I now know happened on the old airfield site.
But I also remember my aunt and uncle moving into Brabazon Road back in the early 60’s when he got a job at LHR with BEA and saying their house was built on the old Heston Aerodrome….hence the confusion.
Some good photos on that site in the linky.

Youre not in the same place.
The location Joe linked to was the location of the Fairey aircraft, the old Heston Aerodrome location was the Fairey Weapons facility. The area occupied by the BA Concorde club was behind (i.e north of) the old Fairey hangers, and not on the actual airfield. The airfield area (to the south-east of the old Fairey hangers) was built on with residential houses, the road names are all named after famous aircraft.
Heston airfield mainly lay North of the hangars marked FAIREY(Fairey Nuclear and Hydraulic, I think) in the 60s(and was about 2 miles S-E of the main FAIREY Hayes factory)The Brabazon estate with Aviation names (Bleriot, D-H, sopwith etc) to the south of Cranford Lane was never taken up as part of Heston airfield though there were pre-war plans to do so….it was still farm land in the early 50s.
Heston Airfield (WWII) was bounded to the south by Cranford Lane, to the west by Southall Lane (aka Tentelow Lane be careful theres another one near Greenford!) to the east by North Hyde Lane, Heston and to the North by Wentworth Rd (the notch in the south east corner formed by Berkeley Waye/School and the Vale was always there from the 30s, Google Collectair Woodason for some maps
The hangars were in a shallow arrow head pattern slightly north of Cranford Lane…. the still standing curved roof concrete Jackaman hangar was to the east of the now-demolished control tower reached by Aerodrome way

This was the old Heston Aerodrome, now has the British Airways Concorde Club – staff club built on what was the aerodrome, as Joe said, the buildings are now gone and that area redeveloped. I seem to remember the BOAC club building going up at the beginning of the sixties, being renamed Concorde at the end of the sixties. I think that the airfield was dead by about the mid fifties, probably being too close to LAP and the main approach for No 1 runway, other than Richard Fairy’s commuting helicopter each day.

I think this was it. Demolished and re-developed now.
This is correct.
This was where the old Fairey factory was and as can be seen is now part residential, and part wharehousing. I’m only old enough to remember the factory when it was Westlands, and I think it was demolished around 1980 ish.
The Fairey hangers at Heston (which had Fairey’s written on them in large letters) remained Fairey’s after the absorption into Westlands, stayed Fairey’s as this was the weapons works, and were demolished in the late 1980’s early 1990’s.

There was also a Fairey factory on the old Heston aerodrome site, “FAIREY” could be seen on the factory roofs up to a couple of years ago. The two large buildings immediately to the left of Aerodrome Way were part of the complex.
For some reason I’m having trouble pasting the Google Maps location. Go to Google Maps and type in “Aerodrome Way TW5”.
