This rather sad looking Fairey Reed propeller was recently donated to the museum at Wallop (it was either that or it was going in a skip) and I’ve been asked by the curator to identify it.
My gut is saying dh 89 / Dominie (based on the spinner) but I have nothing to conform that.

The blade has the following numbers on it. FR 15739

and the drawing No 61186A/20/x4 Dia 7’0″ Pitch……

That diameter is ‘nominal’ as a tape measure shows it to be 6′ 11.5″
The spinner front has the number 95829B 7E

And the backplate is numbered 95830B 7E
I’ve searched the forum threads but none of the Fairey Reed numbers mentioned match. I also know that the Auster AOP Mk 9 and the Cierva C30 used 7 ft Fairey Reed props but this isn’t either of them.

With reference to NZ Civil Airworthiness Requirements Leaflet A.6-5
61186A/X4 is 84″ diameter by 78″ pitch and is approved for DH89 fitted with Gipsy Queen 111.
The FR number is the Fairy Reed serial number.
