It reminds me of the photo posted a year or two ago of a Russian fighter where it was “flying” at a height of 5-6 feet with the pilot looking to the side (as one would do to make sure you don’t run over a taxiway light).
Many of the pro-USSR/Russian fanboys on the Modern Military Forum believed it…and took the opportunity of calling the Russian pilots the best in the world because of it.

Faked – the Avon’s blades are static.

The front blades (ie visible to us) are static, they’re the variable Inlet Guide Vanes (IGV).

This is a very well known old (magazine published 1956) and faked picture.
It doesn’t look real in anyway, apparently the RAAF Canberra was on jacks at the time and these were removed from the final print.

Quite right Pagen. It was done when the aircraft was in the old 2 Sqn hangar at Amberley in the mid 1950s – well before photoshop. It was played with by the base photo section. You can see there is a ground troop sitting in the seat with no helmet.

I was thinking what it was that bugged me about the image as it didn’t quite appear real. I’ve figured it out: it is sharp throughout the image. With the aircraft travelling at quite a speed the hangar or the aircraft should be out of focus as you’ll either follow the aircraft with your camera, blurring the surrounding, or the other way around which leaves you with a blurred aircraft. Cameras and film speeds of those days didn’t produce the shutter speeds necessary to freeze the whole image.
