Falling and The "Other part of the Day" at Manchester on Mayday !

Chaps, I too also ventured to ringway on Mayday. Working over in Warrington so thought it would be rude not to ‘go on parade’. Fortunatley for Wilag and Grey area they witnessed some lovely morning / early afternoon weather. I too was blessed with the ‘current bun’. However as the minutes rolled on, so did that big grey mass from the west. Darker and darker until what could be compared to a monsoon dropped its load, complete with nice fork lightning ! Just what you want when your stood outside !. Unfortunately the 45 degree climb ‘up’ the hill to the embankment on the south runway that was dry when I went up….. Became a mudslide when it was time to go back down !! And yeah… you guessed it ….. ar%* over t*t about 20 yards down to the bottom !!. Still could have been worse, could have been struck by lightning too !!

Anyway, iv included a couple of shots for your persusal. Note I should have been suspicious when in the terminal I shot the BMI Baby 737 what I was due to expect !! Ahh well Yorkshireman born n’ bred, strong int arm thick in t’head…….

Enjoy

G.

great pictures. That un-edited 757 really makes Manchester look murky…

I was right where you were standing when that storm hit, I saw a Cargo 747 take off in it, and boy that was a sight! I then ran to the car, soaking wet. I nearlly blew away!
