In the same vein as a couple of recent threads, feel free to spit up how you feel about these two monsters of animation.
My own opinion? Family Guy is vastly superior to The Simpsons, and has never jumped the shark. Each episode is fresh and entertaining, regardless of the storyline, and full of subtle pop culture references.
People have stated that Family Guy is a rip-off of The Simpsons, but I don’t think this is the case (except for the layout of the characters), especially since FG is a lot more adult.
While The Simpsons film parodies are somewhat entertaining, they typically stray too far from the original material, whereas the recent FG episode, Blue Harvest, spoofed Star Wars to the point where every joke worked brilliantly.

As a student, it’s fair to say I spend quite a lot of time watching these sort of programmes but for me, it has to be Family Guy.

For me it has to be Family Guy, I like the Simpsons but over time i think it has become a bit stale.
I’m not sure its fair to compare the two as Family Guy is aimed totally at adults and The Simpsons is aiming to please both, This means Family Guy can take risks more.
Family Guy is always pushing the boundaries and for me is cleverer than similar adult aimed cartoons such as South park, I have collected all the available DVDS of Family Guy and still find them as fresh as they first were.
For me the Cartoons such as this have taken over from the sitcoms in terms of relevance to modern life.
