Famous pilots and BBMF

I am wondering how many legendary pilots have inspected or flown BBMF a/c. Off the top of my head I can think of Johnnie Johnson, Alex Henshaw and Jeffrey Quill. I wonder what truly iconic moments the flight has under its belt,

I have seen footage of the 50th anniversary flypast of the Dams raid over Derbyshire, with PA474, 2 Tornadoes and the Mossie, absolutely fantastic!

The late Peter Brothers wrote the foreword to the BBMF yearbook about 4-5 years ago and I think he mentioned flying PA474 after the war when in his words ‘with the war over, I felt it safe to join Bomber Command’.

re;

I would be surprised if has not visited it.

Is there any news on PZ865? Will she be ready next year?

Best news would be the New Zealand Hurricane has been donated to BBMF – we can all dream…

Pilots log books are as said belong and stay with the pilots, the aircraft logbooks will record the flight times on days etc, the tech log will contain hours, pilots name, how many on board, from to details, date, fuel uplifts etc. the aircraft logs are kept for life of A/C plus several years after destroyed scrapped written off etc….

re;

the log books must be fascinating, do pilots hang onto them or do they stay with the a/c? I am inquiring, as I am 50/50 that the other half’s Grandfather worked on PA474 in her very brief civvie spell with Flight Refueling – he would have certainly been aware of her, he was one of the main pilots.
