We have the Gripen XL & F-16J/K currently being proposed. What others can one imagine, which might actually be feasible? Disregarding pure blue-sky multi-gigabucks new super-stealth uber-fighters, what might have a chance, even if a small one, of being built?
I will propose the F-346, a light fighter version of the M346 trainer. The basic version would retain the non-afterburning F124s, changes being limited to a new nose section with single seat, & radar (Selex Vixen) & other sensors & avionics appropriate to a fighter. The existing 9 hardpoints would be sufficient.
The Mark 2 would have afterburning F125 engines.
It would be marketed as a low-end complement to the Typhoon, or sole combat aircraft for countries not able to afford high-end fighters.
