Farewell old friend

I often used it. Especially before I got the internet.
Also used it when my PC or net wasnt working.
My dad doesnt have a PC and always used Teletex and Ceefax.

Err,did anyone actually use Teletext,or Ceefax? Always found it pretty useless to be honest!

Does the internet not do a similar thing only much, much better? :p

Yes but not everyone has a computer, surely everyone is entitled to have the same ease of access to information. I have been user of teletext for years (and CEEFAX too for that matter) and have come to the conclusion that just as you get used to what pages your favourite things are on they change the pages and/or the format just to confuse you. Over the last 5 years they’ve messed about with them so much I have now given up with them.

I’ve had many a good holiday off Teletext.
Not used it for donkey’s years though, so I won’t miss it.

I didnt know teletext was going. Thats ashame.
I hate the new interactive teletext thing on digital as it always freezes on our TV. Earlier this year it was mentioned on points of view that many people had the same problem and all that one of the officials said was ‘the service is much more efficient and faster’ :rolleyes:

Yes but without the ‘James Last Orchestra’ style soundtrack when you elect to watch it on TV in the middle of the night…:rolleyes::(
