Farnborough Airshow Enthusiast Day Questions

I’ve never been to Farnborough before, but I’m after getting a ticket for the enthusiast day on the 18th.

What is the dress code on the day? Would I be right in thinking business casual as a minimum, or fully suited?

When you’re filling out your ticket, do you put “Enthusiast Day” for Company?

I just don’t want to be turned away on the day!

(Apologies if this isn’t the right forum)

When I went to Farnborough in 2006, snapping for work there were loads of general pubic on trade days. I think you can just pay for an admission ticket on the gate and go in whether it’s a public day or trade day…?

Avoid the M25 – I queued for two hours (from Orpington) just to get to the A3

Best time/route to arrive

I took adavantage of the FlyPast reader offer for the Friday trade day. I might even pick up a deal on an Airbus.

Last time I was there was the late 70’s – things might have changed at bit:)

Does anyone have any tips on the best route into Farnborough to avoid the crowds – and I guess the earlier the better?

Thanks

DS

Im about to order my tickets for a couple of the trade days including the Friday. I enquired if I was eligable to apply for tickets and was told that anybody can buy them. I am going smart casual just in case, although at the last one I did see a couple of people in t-shirts and jeans on the trade days.
If you want to know whats displaying then visit the airshow website and go to the public display where there is a flying display link and its looking like a good one to me.

Welcome to the forum.

Sympathies with your sartorial anguish, but I suspect that they will let you in regardless. Personally, I favour the brown serge suit (with waistcoat) , a hi-viz bow tie, trilby, and leather brogues.

The more thorny question is ‘what does Farnborough have to offer the enthusiast these days?’ They very much trade on glories past, and my experience has been too much hassle, too much expense, too far from the public to the display line, and far too little of any originality or interest.

However, if you like crowds, standing in lines, and your favourite words are corporate and marketing, you will have a ball!
