Did some landing shots, ground to air photos and static today.
Some of the static items were cluttered with other objects (other aircraft, metal fencing, poles etc)
If you want to do static then get there early or do it after the flying display ends. However, some aircraft have a habit of leaving before the public days and I have a feeling that this is one show where they like everbody to be out ASAP after the flying display ends. They also have a habit of moving aircraft around to get ready for departure. This may be particularly true for Sunday.
The RAF Sentinel was moved across to the live side before the flying began. The Sea Hawk and a JP is on the live side. I have no idea if they will be in the flying display or moved over as a heritage static. Do not be surprised if the Sentinel is gone by Saturday (today)
The B1 did not grace us with it’s presence today although scheduled.
As far as the flying is concerned, comparing to 2004 I think the photography is a bit better (but nowhere near as good as other shows) It looks like some flypasts now at 400ft instead of 600ft and perhaps a little nearer but some aircraft still some way out or high. It is possible you may get half decent pics with anything above a 400ml lens on a 1.6 crop camera but only on some of the larger fighter jets.
The MIG OVTs more ‘extreme’ aeros are way out
Opportunities for landing and take off shots are superb.
However the sun will go in front of the crowd later some two thirds way through the flying display.
