Farnsfield Lightning

I noticed this morning on the way to work that there was a crane looming over the Lightning at the amusement park on the White Post roundabout and that the fin had already been removed.

Does anybody know whats happening to this airframe?

presumably the plastic Hurri-on-a-stick will be the next to go

Thank you for the clarification – I wasn’t 100% certain, hence why it was phrased as a question! 🙂

IIRC didn’t it end up in Wiltshire at the Dyson HQ, Malmesbury?

Wrong aircraft the Dyson one is XM173

XS919 went to Dinton near Salisbury

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread.

Last reports put Lightning XS919 as somewhere in the Salisbury area.
Has there been any news or progress in the last 2 years?

By all accounts it was looking a bit sorry for itself when it left Nottingham.

Many Thanks,

John

Will look at posting a HHA update but you must understand that much of our operation is commercially sensitive. probably best to update the website for all to see. www.hunterteam.com

Ahh… I’m glad of this! Could you please update us on current HHA operations with Hunters and the future plans for the Buccaneer and SU22?

This might be worthy of a new thread starting ‘HHA Eng’??!!

‘Hawker Hunter Aviation Updates’

Cheers,

Phil.

Please excuse my ignorance
I would post some pics of the dismantle and load of XS919 if I had any idea how to do it? If i get some understandable instructions I will post.

Lightning XS919

Noted Lightninig XS919 travelling south on the M1, round about the Lutterworth area, at approximately 2.00 pm, on the back of two “MacKenzie” low loaders.

HHA Engineers from Scampton have prepared and loaded XS919 for road transport today. She left for her new home at approx 1100 on two flat beds.
