Mustang would have to be the Kermit Weeks P51C
Spitfire would have to be Mk II P7350 as that’s the one that I was lucky enough to get inside while at the 41 Squadron reunion in 1986. It’s been 17 years but I can still feel it 🙂

Sure OFMC have managed to fine someone else to clean it as it looked all shiny the other day.

Hi Learning_Slowly
Yes I am sure you do know me! You know how I got my trips in the Mustangs…..
If you look under the belly of MH434 you will see how much oil the 66 its got in her chucks out, as it always was/is a bit of a leaky engine. Hence why I spent so much time having to wipe it off! Quite a few of the Spits/Mustangs these days have “transport” Merlins which, by comparison are relativley clean.
Learning_Slowly, I will most likely be bringing my aeroplane to Weald sometime this week or at the weekend so if you want to go for a flight let me know!

Damn, this is a tough one!!!Mustang – well, I don’t really have a favourite, but one I do wish I could have a sniff at would be ‘Janie’ – really admire the work Maurice Hammond’s put in on her.
I’ll make sure he knows that 🙂 he likes to hear that from ppl.

You answering for me now 😛 cheeky… but you reight, lol…

TFC’s Mk.XIV Spit for me, MV293 or “MV268” as she is now.
P-51s? Probably Old Crow or Big Beautiful Doll.
Does the latter’s gunports still scream? 🙂

Back to the original thread.
Mustangs; none, don’t like them.
Spitfire; Griffon, high-back, big tail but pre Spiteful.

Well ‘dash’ me. 😉

True, every Packard built Merlin, whatever the model, is a V-1650.
It’s what comes after that matters.

..almost same difference – but I agree 🙂

The Spitfire XVI runs on a Packard built Merlin 266 🙂 , the V-1650 is a Mustang engine.

Piece of cake welcome, sure I know you 🙂 How did you manage to blag a flight in a Mustang I wonder.
I would say Mustang has to be Janie cause she is cute maybe BBD oh I am not sure, best say Twilight Tear actually cause she is original paint scheme (ish) on her home base, and my mates would beat me if I didn’t say it (you know who you are).
Spitfire well to many around but probably that noisey blue nosed thing that Stephen has in his hanagar, I would say MH434 but think someone spent to long polishing it. Panel wipe anyone!!!!

P-51: “Damn Yankee” because it ain’t got any chequers but diamonds on the cowlings
Spitfire: Any Mk XVI (’cause it runs on a Packard V-1650′)
Cheers

Ooh, please sir! Can I have another Spitfire??
PL965 – ‘cos it’s pink and doesn’t look remotely silly (whereas a pink Mustang probably would! :D), plus I’ve seen her being displayed against a bright blue sky at East Fortune (yes, we DO get them up here in Scotland, once in a while!) and she looked fabulous against that backdrop – sure I’ve got a photo someplace! 🙂
Rrraaoooowwwww….. etc!

OFMC’s P-51 as i’ve flown in her but also she was MOOSE.
I’m tied regarding Spits, OFMC’s MH434 or HFL’s RN201.

Mine has to be Miss Helen, she looks great in her original Blue Nose B*****d colours.
And Spit XIV MV268. The roar of that Griffon, especialy when flown by Steven Grey or Paul Bohnham. SUPERB.
