Favourite Band?

Missed one..

Forgot to mention the PET SHOP BOYS!!! I have maore albums from these guys than any other group. I have been a big fan for years. Call me an 80’s pop fan, because I am and have stayed with those that I have loved the most.

My Choices

I too loved Duran Duran songs back in the 80s, though I much prefer the original line up to all the changes they made.
I also like Dire Straits and many others from the 1980s. Dragon, a New Zealand group, did some reasonable stuff (“April Sun in Cuba” brings back many memories for me).
I don’t like the current crop of “boy bands” because to be honest they look like bunches of jessies and they sing “jessy” songs. I never liked the Spice Girls either.
I like Madonna’s songs, “Live to Tell” was used on my holiday video from last September on video I shot In Oostende, and “American Pie” was used on in-flight Sabena footage and Brugge footage, so any song I use on a holiday video has to be a favourite for me. I can listen to “The Boxer” by Simon and Garfunkel over and over again, that has always been used with footage of Sabena, so that has many memories for me as well.

REM etc are nice bands, but Michael Stipe really is a cissy. That also counts for Live (Just look at the “I am overcome” video-clip). I hate songs like “Everybody Hurts”, but I do like “What’s the frequency Kenneth …”

but the bands I like are:

Pearl Jam
Acda & De Munnick, in Dutch but the lyrics are great
Dire Straits
Eagles
Mettalica
Nirvana

But I listen mostly to the radio so there are many different kind of bands on there.

Britney “Asparagus” Spears and the Mixed Veges???? I don’t know.., and who cares really about all the commercial sh#t that pervades the industry today. For me, there is only one band that I have stuck with over time and have bought the most music of, and that is the classic sound of Duran Duran. Their best days have come and gone, but they still sound good to me for the most part.
