Favourite Charter Airline and Why?

I’m very interested in this, mine is MyTravel – friendly and co-operative.

but if I wanted lots of leg room I would have paid to travel business class with a scheduled airline, as should anyone else who complains about charter airline legroom.

Why bother with Business Class? A scheduled airline’s economy class more often than not, offers a few inches more than that of a charters.

Ive had no cause for complaint with any of TCX, TOM or FCA , all of whom I have travelled to TFS on in recent months. Punctual, and professional on clean aircraft. Comfort is an issue but if I wanted lots of leg room I would have paid to travel business class with a scheduled airline, as should anyone else who complains about charter airline legroom. I also like the way you can book one way fare only flights direct with all of the above three. (MYT are far less flexible in this respect).

Mine would either be:

1: Thomas Cook Airlines due to their excellent service and professionalism, making my flight with them most enjoyable.

2: MyTravel Airways for providing a great flight after the plane went tech, and managing to remain calm and professional when theres over 300 people who arent happy about being sat on a boiling DC10 for an hour. Probably one of the best airlines on short-haul charters.

Mine will have to be Monarch or Thomsonfly as i have seen an equal amount(21) of each of there fleets. Proberly Monarch as when we went to Crete with thomsonfly(then Britannia) on the way home we had a 3 hour delay

Not really one to comment only having flown on 3 (and one of them no longer exists), but I’d say that First Choice Airways/Air 2000 are the best that I’ve been on. They were far better than Thomsonfly when I flew with them because of better IFE, more comfy seats and better food.

Do charter flights count? Eg, Saudi Arabian Hajj flight from MAN/BHX etc?

No, Saudi Arabian isn’t a Charter Airline.

Thompson, cos my missus used to work for them 🙂

Always amazes me how people cannot spell Thomson (Notice no P ;)).

I have flown on Britannia/Thomsonfly far more than any other charter airline, and their on time performance has always been excellent, so they will have to be mine :).

First Choice Airways, their long haul service puts the other charters to shame.

Here here… 😀

FCA – clean a/c, friendly crew, great food, ample legroom. I would really like to try their long-haul as it sounds really good with the IFE and 33in legroom, and after using Britannia on a 10hr flight to Jamaica a couple of years ago, I was extremely dissapointed after using them nearly all my life on their short-haul services before the TUI takeover.

First Choice, there long haul is excellent, 33inch leg room, seat back tvs, the only charter Id fly long haul on. If you want the worst it has to be Excel, long haul 767 is really cramped and I had a 19hour delay with them last year coming back from Dom Rep!

From a staff point of view.(We handle FCA,MON,MYT and TOM) I think I favour MYT simply because they operate a small A320 which doesnt creat many problems. When a A300,A330 and 757 go belly up you can run for your life.
