FCA delay at LGW today

I notice that today the FCA Margarita flight has yet to take off, 6 hours after it was supposed to. I was wondering if that is the aircraft which when it comes back to Gatwick tomorrow goes off to Varadero, as I am on that service tomorrow and am concerned about having a hefty delay?

Is there anyone out there, perhaps from FCA who could tell me if this is the case.

Thanks,
Freddie

Well he was in luck anyway.

Just as i said they brought the aircraft from Glasgow to Gatwick, so those from Glasgow are on a B757.

May I ask where you got that info from or do you work for FCA?

the latest at the moment:

there are now two flights to Magahrita, premuming 2 B757’s are going to be used FCA84 and 84A, one departing some time tonight and the other tommorow morning.

You would have been in look if you were flying last week, which is what i am thinking of.

They have alternate weeks and unfortunatly BM is in Mombasa until 16:00, BL is in Porlamar and BK is in Glasgow. BUT! – Sometimes a B757 may be used to Sanford (e.g from Glasgow) to give the longer flights like yours more priority.

All i can say is if Gatwick has internet access check back here and i will have a better picture for you.

Sorry for the hope, but all is not lost!

The timetable for tommorow is:

Glasgow – Sanford – G-OOBK (possible subsitute for your flight, depends on the criteria)

Manchester – Porlamar – G-OOBL

Mombasa – Manchester – G-OOBM (doesnt arrive back unti 16:00)

Gatwick – Varadero – G-OO**. Lets hope that its BK.

Thank you very much for that topjet, I feel much happier now as I was not looking forward to sitting in the airport for 8 hours! I am surprised they have a spare aircraft, as looking at their timetables on the FCA website they have 1 GLA-SFB 2x MAN LH and 2x LGW LH (not including Varadero) so there is something wrong there (bearing in mind they only have 4 LH aircraft)!

A “Technical problem” meant G-OOAN B767 was late arriving from Cancun this morning, meaning a similar delay to the outbound PMV flight, but then it seems the fault must have come back again, thus no time on the aircraft yet.

First choice dont like not using the Star Class 767’s so they must be hoping for it to get going soon.

Only last week AN was delayed due to a valve replacement.

Oh and yes it does operate the varadero flight, so a delay is likely.

Unfortunately, the LHR-LGW movements site doesn’t have movements for First Choice Airways, otherwise you could have looked for a pattern in previous weeks and made a decision that way.

The Gatwick Airport website seems to be constantly up-to-date this evening, so I’d check your flight’s status 12 hours before departure and see if there is a delay on it. If it is the same aircraft, let’s hope they can make up for lost time.

Yes I think it does. Unlucky if it is.

Pleased to see my flight tomorrow (05:40 FCA4448 THESSALONIKI SCHEDULED ) is showing as ontime. Well, what else would you expect 12 hours before departure 🙂

Thanks for the replies, but does anyone have any idea if the Margarita aircraft comes into LGW and then operates the Varadero flight

I’m not able to answer your question exactly, but few weeks ago I noticed FCA 757 doing LGW-BGR-SFB. I know they doing this at a time when short of a 767 but not sure if it still continues?

A returning 767 that morning into Gatwick was delayed for a few hours and had it have been the aircraft operating to SFB, it would have been delayed in turn. Whether it was by chance that the 757 was operating to SFB that day, or they quickly managed to get a 757 and depart to SFB on time via BGR? Anyone know? I’d be slightly annoyed at being downgraded onto a 757 from the 767, which for some may be the reason they booked with FCA, for the improved cabin, and on the other hand I’d be mightly impressed for sorting it out so quickly.

There will be a knock-on delay, but if it has a nice turnaround time, then it could make some of it up!
