Ok I know this isn’t exactly historic but am I alone in having an intrest in aviation but a fear of flying! I am slowly trying to cure this buy getting more and more experiance in various aircraft everything from 747’s to DC3’s to a Piper PA28 ( G-BFWB ). Anybody out there have the same?

Being afraid of flying is not stupid.
But refusing to fly would be stupid!
Doing a parachute jump will cure you. Believe me the aircraft they use are not always fully serviceable. You will want to jump out of them.

LOL
I wasnt talking about me (gloves now nice and clean thank you) but a drinking friend, he did his Tiger flight from a local strip near me. The owner is a customer. Thoroughly enjoyed it and is now going to NZ for his holidays over Christmas this year. he’s just upset that they wont loop a 747!!!!
One thing pilots soon learn is NEVER give me the controls. 😀

Never forget that your aircraft is flying because of Bernoulli’s THEORY; not rule, not Law but THEORY!!!
Also if flying Military aircraft remember that it was built by the cheapest bidder!!.
But seriously a trip in something old worked wonders for a close friend of mine. He had a flight in a Tiger Moth including aerobatics and was given the controls for a few minutes. Since then nothing seems to bother him.

A Parachute drop 😮
No one jumps out of a perfectly servicable aeroplane etc…..

Well
I developed some fear after a hairy landing in a Dan-Air BAC 1-11 landing at Gatwick some 20 years back during heavy cross-wind conditions (touched down on the third attempt after 2 go-arounds…..)
Cured with a flight in a Ju-52/3m plus a parachute jump from a Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter (both on the same day !) some two years later.
Cheers
