Felthorpe Flying Group

Although I had heard about this at the time, I did not realise the extent and nature of the fire which destroyed the hanger , clubhouse and some significant aircraft.
What sort of twisted mind does this, vandalise the aircraft then set a fire under each of them, what absolute *******s.
If anyone on this forum is involved in the club, please accept my utmost sympathy.
God that really bugs me..

David,
Not sure on your inside knowledge, but it does sound as if you are implying some sort of insurance claim and its validity. Or is it something more sinsiter ?.

Moggy,I can’t help thinking you give the arsonists too much credit. I’m really not sure at all that it had anything to do with class jealousy or whatever you wanna call it.In the area where I live,we’ve had problems with vandals and arsonists trashing bus stops and burning cars. There’s no particular reason for it,they just do what they feel like doing, and more worryingly a large proportion get clean away with it.They seem to see it as a bit of fun to while away the hours.

I’m not involved with the club, in fact I’ve never even been there which is a crime since I only live about 30 miles away. Did once do an overhead circuit when delivering an aircraft to Norwich to let the recipient, who was at Felthorpe at the time, know that it was time for him to ge on the road.

Looked delightful, always promised myself I’d fly in there one day, never did.

I can’t understand the motivation either. Incomprehensible to me, looks like pure jealousy “We’ll show those rich b*st*rds” (Little knowing how poor most of us flyers are – largely due to spending all our money on flying)
