as spitfires seem to be the subject of the moment, does anybody know what the state of play is with the above spitfire? it would be a pleasure to see a spitfire of this size and magnitude grace the skies over duxford, especially alongside a mk2. what a contrast!!

All got it off your chests?
Let us all learn something from this please and move on.
I propose to lock this out… if I can find the right button to twiddle.

joining a discussion forum is a bit like joining a Motorway…..
indicate that you’re joining the motorway to let those already there know that you’re joining by all means but stay in the slow lane until you’ve got a feel for the pace and the traffic………..
Once you’ve got acclimatised then by all means move into the middle and outside lanes….
rushing to move into the outside lane as soon as you join the motorway tends to pi55 off those already on the road and can end up in crashing and burning 🙂
here endeth the lesson
thanks be to Mark 12 and his Bishops

Hi Ollie
Razor backed spits are usually refered to as “high back” confusing as P47s are refered to as Razor back but there you have it – There are lots of good on web resources that will help you with Spit model definitions but if you ask Mark 12 – he is the leading world wide authority on Spits and I am sure he would steer you on the path of the best books etc – I am dyslexic too so I understand – But you are going fine – just slow down and learn as much as you can and keep asking – it just takes time and you have a lot of that
Regards
John P

This forum appears to have taken a down turn which is sad. Please lets make it fun again! 🙂
It’s funny, but I’ve heard that phrase a great deal recently.

Rocketeer, just read the quote above again. I agree that life’s too short. It’s too short to waste it reading such meaningless posts.
My post was made in sheer frustration at reading yet another serial post from someone whose enthusiasm is without question, but whose ability to irritate is also without question. Is everyone else happy to carry on reading this sort of post in response to the majority of threads or have many reached for the ignore list already? I don’t consider my post to be nasty, I’m merely asking Ollie to consider how this flood of posts is perceived.
Perhaps I should join the ranks of the forum’s grumpy old men?
Fine, but just ignore it? Were you never young and over-enthusiastic?
Ollie will learn not to over-post, but a pm would be a nicer way of telling him rather than public ridicule? Just like Ollie will learn to spell and spell check (if he can be bothered, though I cannot be bothered as I believe informed or enthusiastic chat is better than being word perfect….we also need to remember that dyslexia is widespread now so criticising may be a bit unfair). This forum appears to have taken a down turn which is sad. Please lets make it fun again! 🙂

What is all this nastiness about?! Life is too short to be nasty to enthusiastic people. 🙁
There was a late mark spitfire i think flying at duxford on the 10th september airshow. I do not know who owned it though and i could not tell you what mark it was. All i remember was it was camoflauged. I believe from my memory there was also one there in silver and red racing? markings.

Where do I sign to join the ranks of the forum’s grumpy old men?

If you can’t tell the different Spitfire marks apart, then what possible use was your response. Please entertain the notion that not every post on this forum is an invitation for an Ollie Holmes response. This forum’s declined enough without becoming the Ollie Holmes Historic Aviation Forum.
You don’t have to answer EVERY thread or every post. Your enthusiasm is obvious, please don’t lose it. You’ll find yourself on less ignore lists if you stick to responding when you either know the answer to someone else’s questions or have one of your own.
Imagine yourself in a room chatting to people about a subject that you’re all interested in. How would you view someone who stood on the table and shouted a load of nonsense 161 times in three days?
Rob

BWB: Leave if you like, but before you go could you at least tell us why? I’m not sure what kind of reaction you’re expecting when you give such a silly answer to a question and then following it up by telling us not to worry our “Tiny minds”?
I can’t see this thread going far, bet it’s locked by the morning 😉

Quite the opposite.
PK624 is in safe hands. Don’t worry your tiny minds over it.
Very Sad….

Bentwingbomber – people like you are the reason this forum has lost so many people recently.
You post a stupid remark to get a reaction and then insult people who have shown an interest. Perhaps someone could point you in the direction of the nearest primary school so that you can indulge in similar activities with people of a similar mental age?
By: barrythemod - 30th October 2005 at 01:07
I have answered the question, and given you all i know on the threads subject.
For that we thank you.Now work on your presentation style 😉
By: barrythemod - 30th October 2005 at 01:04

What a waste of space 🙁
Down and gone.

“I know something you don’t know!”
Why bother saying you know something if you don’t want to say what it is???
By: Russ - 30th October 2005 at 00:30
Nice place this….. 🙁
