Just out of idle curiosity, what can a film company expect to pay for hiring out, say, a Spitfire or Buchon for film work? Either flying or on the ground?
If I recall correctly, the “making of” feature for Dark Blue World states $10,000 per hour (in 2000) for the two Spitfires – though I’m not sure if this included static work?
I’m guessing the answer would be “a lot”, and that the figure would be “per hour” rather than an end sum.

It varies from operator to operator but the figures quoted of $10,000 an hour for the use of 2 Spitfires seems entirely reasonable. It really all depends on how many people are involved in the operating of the aircraft, special paint schemes, type of flying, camera or airframe modifications which can attract CAA fees, etc. Best deal I ever got was for the production of a C4 programme and that was the unlimited use, including flying, of a Spitfire for the day for £1,000, that was in 2001. Sadly neither that aeroplane or the pilot are with us any longer, it was a very generous offer to say the least.
