Thanks to the likes of Ren and A330 I’ve given in and decided that Gemini Jets are the way to go for my model collection from now on. So this morning I decided that I’d order my first one….sadly I went a bit mad. I’ve ordered the following off eBay:
Phoenix Models 1/400 SkyEurope 737-500 “Adriana” –
Gemini Jets 1/400 easyJet 737-700 “Big @ Gatwick” –
Gemini Jets 1/400 British Airways A319 G-EUPA
Gemini Jets 1/400 British Airways 747-400 “WUNALA DREAMING”
Gemini Jets 1/400 British Airways 747-400 “NALANJI DREAMING”

As did I, I don’t think they’ve changed it either, but I know of two guys at BA, one just retired that were well over that height. I don’t know if the rules were different when they joined in the 70s.

Changing the subject absolutely completely, I thought BA had a 6’3″ height restriction for pilots?

lol! Quite the contary Ren!! He’s 6′ 6″! I’m looking to get him the same model for his birthday.

Great start to your collection Martin. Wish I had that kind of money to spend on models!

Weyy! good one. 😉

Good point! I know that 5-6 years ago Crossair did a plastic Saab that was about 7″ long (or at least that was what they told the ladies 😉 ).
By: Bhoy - 3rd April 2004 at 23:03
the only thing with the 1/500 Saabs is they’re fcuking tiny. Even the Saab 2000, at an actual length of 27m3cm is less than 5 and a half cm long in the 1/500 scale. the 340 is only about 2/3 of it’s length ie the model is little more than an inch big 😮

Sacrilege I know but I’m not too worried about the scale. I’d just like to be able to show the kids what I used to fly, preferably in the right colours.

I have to say i don’t/didnt really like the world tails, none of them, i much prefer the Union tails.

dunno about in 1/400 scale, Ian, but I’m pretty sure they still have Schabak 1/500 LX models at the kiosk at BSL. Will look for you next time I’m along…

If anyone knows where to get a Saab 340 model (any airline as Aurigny don’t do one but a preference for Crossair as I trained with them) could you let me know. Is there any way I could get Aurigny transfers and put them on a model?
