Well finally the Irish governemet has reliased the potential growth in aviation in Ireland. They have made an aggrement on terminal 2 which should be open for 2009 and a third terminal which is due to open in 2015. The reason for the 2 extra terminals is because of a compimise which will see the DAA build number 2 and a tender put out to see who runs it and number 3 will be a completley private run terminal.
As well as this they have announced an extension to the exsisting terminal. The extension will be pier D and will open in 3 years. A new runway 28R/10L is also on the agenda and the new planes should be more than enough to cope with the 30 million passengers predicted to use Dublin annually by 2020.

The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, has told the Dáil that the Government will make a decision shortly on a second terminal for Dublin Airport.
Mr Ahern told deputies that in the longer term other issues affecting the airport needed to be addressed.
Today, the Government is expected to approve a set of measures for the aviation industry, including the partial sale of Aer Lingus and the issue of the second terminal.
Differences between the coalition parties over who should own the new terminal have held up an agreement for some time.
The PDs want competition between the terminals, but have for some time accepted the view of the Minister for Transport that the State should retain ownership of the second facility.
The deal involves an open competition for the tender to run the new terminal, as well as plans for a third terminal in the medium term.
While there is substantial agreement on the broad outline of a deal, those close to the negotiations say that work was continuing on the final details.

That hasnt been decied yet. People are sayin Aer Lingus will have their own terminal but I cant see it happening. Rumours is that terminal 2 would be for transatlantic flights and would include a transfer centre somthing the current airport lacks.
