Hell YES!!! And as for ancestry, in my recent NZ travels I discovered a few interesting things about the family tree that I didn’t know. My Great Grand mother on my Dad’s side is German! So I have some German blood in me! Also a cousin of the same generation from years ago, Dr Murray Levick, was a doctor in the RN and was present during the landings in Gallipoli and also served with Scott’s expedition to the South Pole.
Interesting things you find when you embark on a family reunion tour.

from my AS level german unification i would guess that its a nationlist (ie germany) line against the inrest of each indivdual german state (ie in the times pre 1871) like bravaria, prussia, wurtemberg, etc.
but literally translated once german unity had been acheived it should simplerlistic and expnasionist

BTW : The “Deutschland über alles” line is no longer actual, there is no such line in the german anthem.
And I must add that the line original did not mean that germany should dominate it´s neighbours, but that germany should be the focus and the most important thing in the live of a german. The line was written when germany started to exist and the small german kingdomes united into one state.
