I’m hoping to go to Helsinki for a weekend in early December, to watch a band play. How easy is it to to get from Helsinki to the aviation museum by public transport? Are there any other tips or things to see.
Thanks
Dave

No it is not, this one is a fuselage frame of VL Tuisku, another complete example of which is on display inside the museum.
Oh yes, now when you mention it the Fw 44 had canvas on it but still without wings.

I believe this is their Focke-Wulf Fw 44 project.

Shame the Fouga doesn’t have a canopy cover. I can image it’s pretty wet inside:(

The engine in Papa Lima’s photos is not a Gnome-Rhone Jupiter V1 from the Gamecock, But a Finnish built Mercury from a Blenheim. You will see that it has Three bladed wooden props.

At last I have been told the magic of getting digital photo’s smaller. Much to the annoyance of my son. I hope this works. Gloster Gamecock, Polikarpov UTI, Hansa-Brandenburg and Folland Gnat with a bit of snow!

It has no engine fitted. The engine is on display near the I-16. There are two orginal I-16s in museums in Russia. But I dont know what they are like.

Can specialists of the I-16 confirm me that this peculiar aircraft is the most authentic preserved I-16, still with its original engine ?

The band was ‘Hayseed Dixe’. We went to Finland for my son’s 28th birthday. I wanted him to have a birthday he would remember. The museum is well worth going to. I hope to go again. There is something for every body. Aircraft. glider’s and some flying model’s and engine’s. It was a bit cold this time of year, but its a dry cold so it seem warmer then here. We had lots of snow. It never stopped snowing on monday, but every thing keep on going. the bus was 3 minutes late to the airport. Snow blowers keep the airport open. Im having trouble down loading photos at the moment( need my son’s help). wont be long then I’ll post some photo’s.
