Fire at Felthorpe Flying Club

News of serious fire, Argus + others destroyed. Was this the one that used to visit Raydon ? It “was” immaculate.

Quite right, for some reason the ‘no zombie thread’ rule seems to have fallen off the CoC here

Because the new member who posted was not aware of the rules regarding thread resurrection. Welcome anyway 🙂

I’m not too sure why this three year-old thread’s resurfaced now.

Sad thought this was – and it’s every aircraft owner’s worst nightmare – I’m not too sure why this three year-old thread’s resurfaced now.

I must admit it gave me a hack of a scare when I saw it!

Mind you Coulsoth, you’re dead right in your anger!

ridiculous

even though i am only 16, i have flown out of felthorpe quite a few times, the people who keep it going are, no offence, relitavely elderly.
some little ****** believe they can just come up to the hanger and just set it alight. i am happy to say that the club is still going and it will hopefully be for a long time yet, hanger not fully repaired yet.
all the planes that were destroyed were good flying, good condition and some of them very old.
😡 😡 😡 this sort of thing makes me unbelievably angry. 😡 😡 😡

RE: Fire at Felthorpe Flying Club

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-02-03 AT 02:28 PM (GMT)]Now confirmed as arson in local press.(pics from EADT,EDP& Anglia news sites). Gates to site had been forced and fires started in hangar and building used as clubhouse.
Nine aircraft reported destroyed six described as vintage. What a sad event for the owners and the Club who’s main aim was to provide those who could not really afford the costs the chance to fly regularly.

RE: Fire at Felthorpe Flying Club

Very sad news.

ITN are reporting 9 aircraft destroyed with seven being vintage.

They also report it being arson.

No doubt it’s a bunch of kids with no respect for anyone or anything, all of whome are probably to young to be prosecuted.
