An Australian passenger plane with 203 people on board has been forced into an emergency landing after a fire broke out in the cockpit.
The Airbus A330, operated by Jetstar, was flying from Japan to Australia when a window in the cockpit caught fire…….
Interesting how the window can ‘catch fire’. I presume they mean something involving the windshield heating circuit. Perhaps someone more informed could elaborate.
I’m just waiting for the sensationalist media to pick up on the fact it was an A330 and for them to declare them unsafe!

Is it a busy day, or just the Journo’s jumping all over every airliner incident after a major? Every time you have a major, for the next couple of weeks it seems like flying is the most dangerous thing ever.
New York has 151 emergency landings a year, Brussels over 100, and thats not even considered a major airport.

An American Airlines jet airliner with 210 people aboard was forced to land in eastern Canada late yesterday when an electrical fire broke out in the bathroom, airport authorities reported.
There were no injuries and the passengers and crew are safe, said spokesman Peter Spurway of Halifax airport.
American Airlines Flight 64 was flying from New York to Zurich when the fire broke out.
The emergency was caused by “fire in a fan motor in a mid-cabin washroom”, said spokesman Peter Spurway.
