Firefighting Invaders ??

Are there any Douglas Invaders still carrying out firefighting duties in North America ??. Does anybody have any info regarding old ex-military aeroplanes still in firefighting service ???. Any Avengers ??.

Your man is correct Airspray out of Red Deer, Alberta (an hour and a half south of Edmonton) are flying the A- 26’s but rumor has it that they are being phased out and replaced by electras in the not to distant future. And another rumor is that the Alberta Aviation museum here in Edmonton is hoping to negotiate for one… OK that’s a rumor I’m starting but hopefully 🙂

Airspray in Canada own around 12 A-26s of which at least 6 are operational. They could be the last WW2 era combat aircraft used in this role, as it’s unlikely that the Hawkins and Powers’ Privateers will be cleared by the USFS to fly the 2004 fire season.
That would leave the PV-2 Neptune and P-3 Orion fleets as the only real military types, thought there’s a fair number of ex A/F transports knocking about.

Easiest thing to do is take a look at : – www.airtanker.com the US airtanker pilots site. Real airplanes still working for a living.
