Firefly at Legends

Although its not a ‘flyer’ could the Swedish Firefly not be pulled onto the static. Photos a couple of weeks ago showed it on wheels close to the doors, inside the HFL / ARCo hangar. Ok if the aircraft is being worked on I dont suggest that she be moved. But if its safe to do so many people would appreciate the oppertunity to see and photo such a rare and new exhibit. Maybe a collection box in front of the Firefly could generate a small sum, either for the aircrafts restoration or in memory of last years terrible Firefly incident.

Cooo. You live an learn.

Fave mis-id was the pilot of the first flying Boomer in Aus (very fed up) telling an idjit that he was looking at a Beaufort. Idjit wandered off clear, but wrong. 😉

Fuselages only of both Fireflies were in Hangar 1 on Sunday. In the few minutes I was in there I heard the most complete one identified as a Tomahawk and a Barracuda.
Not “I think it’s…” but statements of fact.

At least one is currently in Hangar 1. Apart from brief periods in the Arco compound they have been on display in H3 or H1 ever since they arrived at Duxford.

I think the most complete airframe may have been moved into the compound specifically for the ARCo open day which is how this confusion has arisen.

Having said that, if you want to see them do it now. Once H1 is completely emptied they might be out of sight for quite some time.

Mike J – please confirm where both Fireflies are at present I though one was in ARCo hangar and the other dismantled in storage.

Neither did I suggest that it should be on the flightline walk (last place it should to be), on display as static exhibit with a little info on where it has come from and what is planned, one day we will see her fly.

Donut (as they say ‘ere)
Just because lots of people haven’t posted, doesn’t mean there’s no interest. Just lots of folks not too bothered to post. YOU can make a difference. Here’s how. Have a look at http://www.arc-duxford.co.uk (which a big boy like you could have found with google for yourself ;)) and off you go!

PS I’m not bothered because a) I’ve seen it, b) I’ll be seeing it again, and c) I’m not going to be at Leg Ends. (Chiz) Go for it. Can’t hurt!

i do think its a good idea but the contrast with other warbirds would clash and its one of those tough desicisions with 60 warbirds on the field it would be a struggle to fit her in.

If anbody on the forum has a contact with ARCo please copy this request, but with so little support from other forum members they might not consider it worth while.

It’s an idea. Why not e-mail ARCo and ask? Can’t hurt.
