Just seen that Airbus have painted the first China Southern A380 in full colours. Here is a link to the pictures:

Looks very fat and ungainly.
The China Southern livery was designed for long thin fuselages.
The cheat lines are far, far too big.

Eh ? China Southern livery is beautiful. Some of my favourite photos I’ve taken are of China Southern stuff….

Beauty, or a lack of it, is obviously in the eye of the beholder. I think the A380 is a very attractive aircraft in an imposing and blocky way – certainly much more so than the B747-8, which looks too much like a 1969 rehash to me (just talking about appearance here – the B747-8 is, in all other regards, a fabulous aircraft).
As for the livery, I’m not sure it does the A380 many favours.

The A380 is one of the ugliest aircraft in the sky today. This livery is dull to start with, so applying it to such an ugly canvas was never going to produce a master piece.

It doesn’t sit too well on the A380. The cheat-lines are too big, or the lettering is too small. Or both!

My thoughts? I absolutely LOVE the China Southern Livery. It looks great on the 380 too.
