Just got back from the Centenary of Flight show at Duxford and it was a real pleasure to attend. Not too crowded and the display was good if a bit puzzling.
The mass start of the resident warbirds was a joy although the flypast and tail-chases seemed to be short in duration, not as short as the Tornado F2 “display”-one fast pass and thats it?
Maybe someone can come up with an explanation.
The “new” Vintage Pair were good although, again, the Vampire’s routine wasn’t as long as the Meteor’s.The latter made up for it though-the night-fighter version seems to look more menacing than it’s day version stablemate.
The undoubted highlight was the astounding 747!! The damn thing was virtually stood on it’s wigtips and the pitch up and spiralling climb had to be seen to be believed. As a Vulcan fan I thought I’d seen the biggest “fighter” display, now I’m not sure!
Tea and biccies by the hardworking Key publishing gang were appreciated as was the Friends of Duxford enclosure-if you’re not a member I’d suggest signing up.
Oh,nearly forgot the DC6 and DC3-amazing.
Go tomorrow if you can.

I must say, I enjoyed the formation flying geese/cranes. Definitely an enjoyable show, the DC-3, DC-6 and 747 were wonderful.

I am going to Duxford tomorrow, does anyone know if the order for the display is the same as today. Except for the Reds that is?
If so can anybody tell me what flew after the F3 which F4 said was about 5ish.
As I want to be heading home about then if possible!

just in from my first Duxford airshow. agree with the comments so far. the mass start was a sound to savour. The meteor very well displayed by Dan Griffith. But the 747 was a definite sight to remember. pity about the rain, like most folks we left as the reds/rain started.
looking forward to Shuttleworth tomorrow.

Yes, Christian Moullec did his display. He took off for a short bit to shake the rain off the wing and to check the conditions.
He then landed to pick up his birds….:)

You obviously left too early – the F3 did a full display just before 5pm!
The impending thunderstorm also persuaded me to leave when the Reds were on – did Christian Moullec and his geese get airborne?
