First German A310s MRTT flies

The first airbus A310 MRTT “Multi Role transport tanker” German offour completed its first flight on 20 December 2003.
Until April now the test flights are to run, air refuelings with Tornado combat aircraft are accomplished among other things. Afterwards the airplane with the name, reequipped by Elbe aircraft plants GmbH in Dresden, becomes “August Euler” (registration: 10+27) In the middle of 2004 the service with the ready for flight shank to Cologne illusion take up. Beside the four German airplanes also two CC-150 Polaris (A310) of the Canadian Air Force are reequipped.
The A310 MRTT be based on a civilian airbus A310-300 airplane and is equipped with a two-man glass cockpit.
It can refuel at the same time two combat aircraft with ever 1,590 litres per minute in the flight with two Mk 32-900 refueling containers. The payload capacity of the MRTT makes it possible to deliver after 1.000nm (1.852km) up to 45t fuel.
In the role as flying hospital the A310 MRTT up to 6 intensive beds and 56 stretchers seizes as well as seats for the necessary medical personnel to be equipped.
As troop transporters the airplane up to 214 can take up seats.
In combined use for freight and personnel 54 passengers can be transported up to 12 pallets and.
The change between the individual uses needs maximally 50 hours.
The following modifications need the A310s MRT for the change for the MRTT:

To be able to take up structure modifications of the two wings around ever a Mk of 32-900 refueling containers.
Structure modifications of the upper and lower cargo soil.
Installation of an operator station for the air refueling behind the cockpit with monitors, controls and communication for fuel management, air refueling equipment and lighting.
Modifications of the fuel system with lines, valves, pumps as well as four additional central fuel containers for ever 7 tons fuel.
Modifications of the electrical and hydraulic system, the refueling computer and the cockpit.
