I’m surprised not to see any comment regarding Geoffrey Wellum’s story: “First Light” on Yesterday at 10.0pm Sat. I thought it, not bad ! I think the program was a repeat so, perhaps it has already been dissected by our resident analysers.
My only comment: there was a lack of boisterous ‘Joie de vivre’ (apologies for the faux French). It was all a bt ‘po’ faced.

Nice to see TE184 getting some screen time, too.

It’s available on DVD – which is how I watched it again recently.
It’s not bad at all, especially given the budget constraints. Nice to see TE184 getting some screen time, too.

I watched this repeat and although I saw it first time round it still was impressive. The undercurrent of going on Ops despite being fearful was a major element of this account .Also well portrayed was the nervy feelings of the new arrival and lack of experience to be overcome.

As you surmised, this was discussed around the time it aired on BBC a couple of years ago
