I got this today from our Chief Pilot. As you can see there was a bit of a crosswind. This is the first 757 painted up returning from the paint shop.

Yes, or even the John Travolta Qantas 707. I bet they’d be a hit with the travelling public. I think putting any of KLM’s fleet into those retro silver colours, with the dutch tail would be fantastic.

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
As I’ve said before I prefer the JMC look to the Thomas Cook one. Wasn’t JM Cook, Thomas’s son or nephew ? Would JM have been more of an 18-30 type of bloke ? who knows ? I think we’re seeing the death of some really great liveries at the moment, especially in the holiday charter sector.
The new Brittania look is ok, the new Airtours/My Travel is pants, Thomas Cook is boring. Those nice colourful GO planes will soon be irritating orange and when will all of those wonderful UK regional airlines shake off the standard BA finish that has blighted them for so long. Let’s see those Loganair, Brymon, Manx etc colours back in the skies once again.
I guess it’s only a matter of time before retro 60’s liveries become fashionable again. I’d love to see the BEA or BOAC look reinroduced bt BA in some way. Wasn’t there a Trident recently done up in BEA colours ? anyone got a picture ?
Cheers
Ren

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-11-02 AT 11:29 PM (GMT)]JMC and Thomas Cook are linked to Caledonian from the past. There isn’t actually any link to BCal other than the word Caledonian.
JMC Holidays will still exist but as one of many brands in the Thomas Cook portfolio. Thonas Cook (who was teetotal) would turn in his grave if he knew what went on with the Club 18-30 holidays/shagfests).
SkyCruiser – you’ll soon be looking down your nose at me in a 757 when you’re A340-600 rated!
Luke – while all aircraft leave the factory nice and straight they develop bends with time (and hard landings, etc). As a result you often have to ‘trim’ out aerodynamic perculiarites. It is also very common to find that each engine performs differently depending on its age. The other big difference can be the level of spec the aircraft has. E.g. navigation can be a minor pain over long stretches of water when the aircraft does not have GPS or it can be a pain when some aircraft don’t have a TCAS overlay on the map screen, etc.

So Wysiwyg, what is so bad about your least fav aircraft?

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
Yeah come to think of it, I’m with you Bhoy, nothing beats the Bcal c/s!!! 🙂

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
Great photo and not a bad livery.
I’m still not sure which of the two I prefer. I never used to be keen on the lime green of JMC but it grew on me eventually and just as I actually got to like it, Thomas Cook took over..!!
Wysiwyg (or anyone else who knows): Is JMC Holidays going to re-brand as Thomas Cook Holidays?

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
well, personally, I prefer B Cal’s scheme… but, given the choice, TC is definately better than that jmc scheme.

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
Well I sort of like the “old” lime green c/s.
This one is not too bad but I definitely do prefer the old one.

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
That’s a very nice colour scheme – better than the green blobs we’re all used to!
Will the aircraft be used all over Europe now (seeing as TC is a multinational), or will ex-UK flights still use G-reg aircraft?

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
The aircraft rotate around all the bases returning to Manch and Gatters for essential maintenance so, yes I have flown this one (and all of them) many times. You would be amazed at how different they can be to one another. This one is one of my favourites while the next one in sequence (G-FCLG) is my next but one least favourite.

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
Ah, I was close 😛 . Have you flown this one before?
Its quite a nice c/s though, just as good as the JMC one.
