I’ve lifted a wine glass to my mouth at least a dozen times today, that’s enough exercise for one day. Tomorrow i’ll change hands

Well, I used to be one of those back when I was 17-18 years old. I sometimes spent hours at the gym up to six days a week. Smart and reasonable? I don’t think so. After gaining some knowledge and experience I realised that three or four sessions a week was sufficient. Anything more than that (at the time) was just a result of young naivity, ignorance and stupidity.
I don’t attend gyms nowadays. It’s too expensive. I train at home using a few manuals as well as my body as weight. The forest, roads and a nearby sports track provide good running options.
Well, two years ago I enrolled myself in a gym-training, which is quite cheap at my university and only a few blocks away from where I stay. The first day though we had to do some tests which I found too embarrising, especially since I had no physical endurance :diablo: So I dropped out before even entering the gym 😀
Jogging is more fun, put on your MP3-player: it’s cheap and most important of all, you can do it on your own. Gym most of the time you are drinking very expensive energy drinks or sitting in a sauna blablabla. This you can do in a pub, much cheaper and more fun!!

Looking after a house, two kids and a mad dog generally keeps me fit, but my work does a lot of it for me, I walk for miles in a week, dragging my catalogues (and available child/children) with me, and then go back round again three or four times to try and get the catalogues back, then it’s off again with customer orders.
I have walked that much this last week that my legs ache something shocking, but hey, I’m getting paid to keep fit!

I use two separate sessions a day. Each session demands too much energy for me to combine them. I need to rest and get some nutrition in between in order to keep it going at a reasonable level.
Oh, so you’re one of those guys who I see whenever I go to the gym. They’re there so much that it’s like they live there…

Perhaps where you’re located you can afford to take the time to do weight training and an outdoor run in the same session. My gym is located in the middle of a gigantic shopping mall. Not much chance of just running out and finding myself in a wooded forest for that oh, so refreshing run 🙂

5 days a week. With lotsa weights. Pecs, delts, tris… I thought I was set! Then I went to the doctor for a physical and was told that the “pretty boy” exercises (his words, not mine) won’t help my cardio.
Now I have to spend (waste) 20 minutes of my workout on a stairmaster/treadmill… YUCK!!
hai ri qismat!!

I lost 2 stone last year by running 3 miles every other day, and doing weights at home on the opposite day to running, and by eating well, the weight flew off, so there is no need to spend the money at the gym, I found the hardest thing about running was getting out the door, once you take that step the rest is easy, even if it was raining just take that step out the door and close it, it can be done, I’m testiment to that 🙂
I’d get my Mrs to run me 10k up the Highway and drop me off, that way i had no choice but to run the 10k home

I was gonna put that in pal, but it sounded so cliche-ed (pardon the spelling/pronounciation but iv just got back from the pub…) But seriously- one time we ran out from the changing room and my mate mark said exactly that…
“I love the smell of deep heat in the morning”
How we laughed… especially when we pinned him down and administered a liberal coating of it to every availible part of him… He ached for DAYS.
