Five seconds of Halifax on History Channel

There is a preview running on History Channel at the moment for a film starring Virginia McKenna as a spy, it could be “They Also Served” but I wasn’t paying attention to that. There was, however, all of five seconds of air-to-air of a Halifax as she prepares to jump to inevitably torture and death in France (haven’t seen the film – just guessing).

It is a nice shot of the Halifax

Isn’t the film’s title “Carve her name with pride” ?

Could be, like I said I was not paying attention.

Thanks mate but if it is on then I might, if I don’t then I wouldn’t have anyway.

Time runs differently in Basingstoke

Did wartime Halifaxes have nice large numbers on the underside of the wing like this?

Nope, the film was made post-war and so the RAF would have kindly lent them a Halifax right form a squadron that was still using them.

Melv,

Are you sure it wasn’t Setter’s Chinese Stirling? 😉

No defintely, the undercarriage worked. I thought I could make out the part numbers for all the Hastings parts!

Actually there was some lettering only partly visible.

It was something like

**ev* **tter**n *orld *ou* 2005

or something/
