apparently it’s now sat in the weeds next to the F16 that pulled the same move this morning…

Interesting object in the background too – historic ( demobbed ) or visiting ?
Yes its ‘Demobbed’ : Tucano ex ZF411 now registered N411ZF to an owner in Texas and based at Dallas – Addison, according to our records. – Well spotted 🙂
(and apologies for the thread creep)

Seriously unimpressive response by the emergency services 🙁
If I were in a burning aeroplane ( ie a more serious incident than this) I would hope they could be there before almost 2 minutes had elapsed.
Surely they should be suited up, in their wagons, beside the runway, and rolling within 10 seconds.
Likewise Jack Roush’s crash of his Premier last year.

Adjacent seems to be the operative word ! On the runway would be difficult but I guess not in the way of anything is a different matter. Certainly Oshkosh is somewhere that runways are at a premium!

Here’s the FJ going into the weeds:

Isn’t it a little unusual to keep operating a runway that has an obstruction (The F16) adjacent to it?

That going to cost him/her a few beers in the bar!

Now that is kinda embarassing for the F-16 jockey…
By: Wyvernfan - 29th July 2011 at 08:17
Phew glad all are ok. And glad that the FJ appears to be relatively unscathed, especially as its on my lottery win wants list ;).

It’s a bird! It’s a plane!!
It’s a plough….
LOL! :D:D:D:D
Now I’ve gotta clean off the coffee which I sprayed over my screen and keyboard when I read that!

I reckon the F-16 pilot has a bit of a sore nose, or at least needs a new helmet, amongst other problems.
It looks like his head is right up against the coaming.

Still think the Harrier had the right idea…stop then land. And there is something to be said for the old warbirds which rarely had this issue
By: happymeal - 29th July 2011 at 03:56
As for the FJ-4B, Dr Rich Sugden (owner-pilot) called it on the radio, while half way down the runway, that he had lost the brakes and was going to over-run. So the cause seems pretty clear for this one.
