Flaps Podcast – an aviation radio programme

You might be interested to hear about an aviation podcast I make with a colleague. We’re radio professionals and both hold PPLs – so we hope we know what we’re doing!

It’s called Flaps Podcast and the most recent one will probably be of most interest to users of this forum. We visited the RAF Museum at Cosford and had a tour with the curator, Al McLean, and had a great time as he showed us round the exhibits.

This is the seventh edition we’ve made: previous ones have featured items on Concorde, Spitfire, and Harrier test pilot John Farley. We also have a regular contribution from former RAF Squadron Leader Pablo Mason who sounds off about something close to his heart.

It’s at http://www.flapspodcast.com or you can find it in the iTunes store by searching for Flaps Podcast.

We’ve also made an extra special feature about our Cosford trip, because we didn’t have time to squeeze it all in – it’s called Flaps Extended and you’ll find it on our site or iTunes too.

We also feature famous flyers in our “Celebrity Pilot” slot. Previous ones have been former MP Lembit Opik, Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, Wolves goalie Marcus Hahnemann and ex-Radio 1 DJ Mike Smith.

Hopefully you’ll like it – we’ve won a couple of radio awards for it recently so we’re very proud of our baby!

Feel free to reply with comments and thoughts. All feedback is appreciated.

(By the way, we sometimes get asked what a podcast is – if you don’t know, it’s simply a radio programme on the internet. If you go to our site, all you need to do is click on the play button to listen. It’d be great if Radio 4 would commission us – that would be the easiest way to listen!)

Thanks for reading. And thanks too to the forum owners for allowing us to post – it’s much appreciated.

Mark
