Flight crew uniforms

flight crew uniforms are pretty much the same the whole world over, but below is a picture of new Qantas subsiduary Australian airlines Pilots uniforms, wich have a more casual look about them.
I prefer the more professional look like Qantas,BA,or United
Anybody have an opinion on this?

I saw a thing on BBC news about how Aeroflot is trying to upgrade their image. Part if this is getting better looking uniforms. So they had fashion designers in russia all submit uniforms and had a fashion show to decide the winner. Is it true that Aeroflot has had the reputation as the worlds rudest airline?
Heres a link about all Aeroflot is doing in this sevice impovement program:

Traditional smart uniforms are the best. Alitalia is the best one. I do hate the Lauda one. I think passengers deserve more respect. And the funniest I´ve ever seem, its former Avensa (Venezuela) ones. Ultra short skirts, and feathers…..and tight blouses.

i like this new uniform for the flight crew, its morealess identicle to the corporate wear we have to wear at work now!

its not totally casual looking i dont think, its still very smart. as long as they are comfortable for the pilots to wear, as per the specification then it easily does its job!

Im a bit of a traditioanlist. I do agree that pilots should be allowed to take their ties, hats etc off in the cockpit once the door is closed, but I think they should have a smart uniform, smart cap and look as best as they possibly can to try and keep the proffesional image that they have. Without the caps, ties or jackets a pilot would not look anywhere near as proffesional.

Well, I never wear a tie in the office. But we have a house rule about being smart for clients, so I keep a tie in my drawer and my suit jacket is always on a coat hanger nearby.

Fortunately accountants don’t have to walk round with a cap and lots of “brass bits” hanging off us!

As for pilots – it is important for them to look professional, as passengers need to have confidence that they are indeed professionals.

But certainly, there is no need to go overboard with caps and blazers or even corporate ties (why? what other profession makes everyone else wear the same tie, apart from the military?). Just a bog standard suit would do fine I’d think. Quality of grooming (ironed clothes, clean shaven or trimmed beard) is more important than wearing a company blazer.

I always thought the new Air2000 uniform was a bit pink but basically OK, until yesterday when 2 girls took their jackets off on the staff car park bus to reveal those apalling blouses. How on earth did that get approved!

Now there’s a locked door between you and us we might as well all be naked! My company ditched the hat with our new uniform. We are all delighted about that. Apparantly the German bosses don’t like its association with the Nazi era! Regrettably our new ties are no longer clip-ons but I have converted mine from standard tie-up to clip-on having puuled apart my old clip-on and upgraded my ties modification status! Now everyone else is copying me! There also seems to be a growing trend for some guys in my mob to wear baseball caps when flying. Each to their own…

as soon as i get to my F/O seat i do away with the tie and the buttons up.

the jacket comes off and the cap gets shoved away, i am not the most formal person on the planet, i tend to like the casual and comfortable feel.

at the end of the day the only time you see tech crew is when we are walking on to or off the a/c. cabin crew should always look smart, they are after all the point of contact.
